𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴
This refers to the use of various social media platforms for marketing products or services. Social media as the name suggests was created with the purpose of connecting people and building and maintaining relationships through constant communication.
However, the use of social media has seen a dramatic change in marketing. Marketers are all over on every social media platform that you find yourself. It is therefore essential for any user of such platforms to also be aware of its benefits as a marketing tool.
When it comes to marketing goods and services, you should always look at where people are gathered. That is why traditional marketers go and gather in a particular facility called a marketplace to display their products or offer their services to others.
If there are no people around where you are marketing your services or products then you won’t achieve any results.

Essentially, almost any social media platform can be used as a marketing platform. The important thing is to understand the kind of people who are present on such a platform.
Every marketer should be aware of their potential buyers or customers. You have to be knowledgeable about your target audience and therefore look for a platform where your target audience spends most of their time.
Each social media platform has a certain caliber of people who dominate its usage and you have to understand that before you proceed to market on such a platform. For instance, if you want to advertise your services to other businesses, that is to say, if you are in the B2B business then a platform like LinkedIn will be the most appropriate platform for you to market your services.
Every business owner or service provider is therefore advised to prepare a customer avatar or a buyer persona that will help you choose which is the right social media platform for whatever you do.

Marketing is more than just advertising. Advertising has to do with showing your products to a potential buyer but marketing goes beyond that and offers a reason for which the potential buyer should buy products or patronize your services.
Advertising can therefore be considered part of the activities you perform when you are marketing your goods and services. In fact, you have to master the art of advertising if you want to succeed at marketing.
One skill that will be of benefit to you in such a space is copywriting. Copywriting basically means writing a marketing message that convinces people to buy from you. So, if you want to get into social media marketing, you have to be ready to master the art of copywriting.
The type of content you are going to use for such marketing purposes is also essential and the social media platform you choose will determine the types of content you should be creating.
I did a live session on this in my private Facebook group, teaching how to create these types of content. You can check. You can join the group if you want access to the recorded version of that live session.
The length of the content you are producing also matters a lot. Not every platform will allow you to write long-form content and the people on such platforms also do not have time to read long-form content. This is one of the reasons why you have to understand your potential customer first before choosing a platform for your use.
